Successful Succession – Future proofing your family business

Succession is one of the most serious issues facing family businesses. First choice is usually to keep the business within the family, but sometimes that’s not an option. Family business owners are usually keen to retain the firm’s independence, and preserve the family legacy. This is why an increasing number of family businesses are considering selling to employees. Ralph MacLeod, third generation owner of agricultural feed manufacturers Galloway & MacLeod did exactly that. Come and hear why he chose this route, and how it has worked out for him and the firm. David Beveridge, Managing Director of Macdonald Henderson, Scottish Family Business Adviser of the Year, and Stewart MacDonald from leading accountancy firm Scott-Moncrieff will be on hand to give the expert view on the legal and tax implications. This event is run in conjunction with Co-operative Development Scotland, the subsidiary of Scottish Enterprise responsible from supporting and promoting employee ownership and collaborative business models.
